BBT4 starts Sunday which will be the cap on a full poker weekend for me.
Saturday night is an Ante Up Podcast game at JLBSox's house with one of the hosts of the Ante Up podcast Chris Cosenza. Have a "score" to settle as he knocked me out of the last meeting with his nut flush draw vs Q-Q. Should be a good game!
Sunday night starts a poker league Unimpressed got me into. 16 weeks of grueling pokerness.
Cool thing happened to me last Saturday night as I was out eating at a new restaurant that opened up by my house.
We were about to leave and I had my KC Chiefs jacket on when I felt a tap on my shoulder. A woman asks me "Whats a KC fan doing in New England?" I thought it was on like Donkey Kong,so I gave her the short version about me being born and raised in PA and me following Joe Montana as a kid and she says "oh yeah Joe Montana was one of my brother's clients."
Intrigued I asked her who her bro was and it turns out its nothing other than super agent Tom Condon! We chatted about "Tommy" as she referred to him and we talked about the KC area in general and asking if I had been out there and such.
It was just kinda cool, stuff like that doesnt happen often to me.

Who said politics isn't nasty?
In politics, practically anything is fair game.
And former Washington Redskins quarterback Heath Shuler’s awful NFL career left him wide open to be blindsided by a spokesman for U.S. Majority Leader Harry Reid.
After Shuler, a North Carolina Democrat representative, opined that “House leadership and Senate leadershp have really failed,” in an attack on Reid and Nancy Pelosi, Reid spokesman Jim Manley got in this parting shot:
“Let me get this straight, this is coming from a guy who threw more than twice as many interceptions than touchdowns?”

Words to Live by: By Bill Parcells
Todd Haley first coached under Bill Parcells with the Jets, and this is the advice Parcells had for Haley when the pupil phoned the teacher for advice last week:
"Don't [screw] it up.''
Awesome.

Taking Responsibility
"Its not you, its me."
I think finally I have made a breakthrough in my poker lessons. Its not poker that continually screws me over, its me.
This latest realization came to me after another head-scratching call from an opponent in my monthly home game.
Said person is actually a very good poker player, not easy to read and smart enough to think through calls, so when I say monthly home game don't take that to mean no-skill.
The situation is this: Early in the tourney, I get A-Qo in LP. Villan raises 3x BB to 150 t$. I re-raise to 4x his bet 600 t$. Usually I never re-raise unless I have a huge hand (a leak) but he just flat calls. Im thinking A-K but could have a big PP.
Flop is raggy 9 high no double suit, we both check.
Turn is a Jx, he checks. I could my chips and betting the pot will leave me short so I push. He tanks. Immediately I know he has A-K for sure. He asks for a count of my chips and its going to cost him another t$1400 (3/4ths his stack) to call. And he does.
River is a blank and im out.
My first question to myself is "do i really bluff that much?" And im pretty sure that answer is no. Im pretty tight, even weak-tight but not bluffy. So why is it I can't get players to do what I WANT them to do versus what they should do?
If I ever answer that question I think my poker breakthrough is not far behind...
